Hey Lykkers! Have you ever dreamed of visiting a picturesque island village that feels like it's straight out of a postcard?
Sveti Stefan, a tiny island off the coast of Montenegro, is exactly that—a stunning destination that combines history, luxury, and breathtaking views.
Our first stop was the famous island itself, which has been transformed into an exclusive luxury resort. Sveti Stefan was once a fortified fishing village, but now it's home to a hotel, beautiful beaches, and stunning architecture.
The island is connected to the mainland by a narrow causeway, and we walked across it, feeling like we were entering a hidden paradise. Access to the island is limited to hotel guests, but don't worry—visitors can still enjoy the view from the mainland, where the picturesque sight of the island perched on the Adriatic Sea is mesmerizing. The best time to visit is from May to October, and while entry to the island is exclusive, the view from the beach is free for everyone to enjoy!
After a stroll around Sveti Stefan, we made our way to Miločer Beach, a beautiful spot just a short walk away. This beach is known for its soft, golden sand and crystal-clear waters. It's a serene spot to unwind, swim, or sunbathe. For us, it was the perfect place to relax after a morning of exploration. The beach is public, so anyone can visit, but the beach chairs and umbrellas are available for rent for around €15-€20 per day. Be sure to arrive early during the summer months to grab a good spot, as it can get crowded.
For those who want to experience luxury firsthand, Aman Sveti Stefan Resort is the place to stay. The resort offers an unforgettable experience with its elegant rooms, spa services, and world-class dining. While we didn't stay there (yet!), we explored the surrounding area and were captivated by the beauty and serenity of the resort.
Even if you're not a guest, the surrounding area is still worth a visit for its stunning views of the island and the crystal-clear waters. Prices at the Aman Sveti Stefan Resort start at around €500 per night, but for a more affordable option, there are nearby hotels in the area starting at around €100 per night.
Before you pack your bags, it's essential to know that Sveti Stefan can get very busy during the peak summer months, so plan your visit accordingly. The best way to get there is by car or taxi from Budva, which is about 15 minutes away. If you're staying nearby, walking to the island or beach is a scenic and enjoyable experience. For an affordable dining experience, we recommend visiting local restaurants in Budva, where you can enjoy fresh seafood and traditional Montenegrin dishes for a fraction of the price. Keep in mind that while the beaches and mainland are free to explore, the island itself requires hotel access or a tour.
Sveti Stefan is a true gem of the Adriatic Coast, offering a unique blend of history, luxury, and natural beauty. Whether you're strolling along the causeway, lounging on the beach, or simply taking in the view, it's a destination that leaves you feeling rejuvenated and inspired. Don't forget your camera—this place is as beautiful as it sounds!
